Utah Consumer Protection Summit to unite federal and state fraud fighters

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Francine A. Giani, Executive Director of the Department of Commerce, announced today that the Utah Division of Consumer Protection and Federal Trade Commission are co-hosting the Utah Consumer Protection Summit, October 22, 2015 at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at City Creek. The Summit will feature remarks by Utah Lt. Governor Spencer J. Cox and a keynote speech by FTC Commissioner Maureen Ohlhausen. Panel discussions on consumer protection topics will feature federal, state and county law enforcement officials from the following agencies; the Federal Trade Commission, Utah Department of Commerce Division of Consumer Protection, US Postal Inspections Service, Utah Attorney General’s Office, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In addition, business groups will also be participating on panels from AARP-UT, Better Business Bureau – Utah, Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce and Utah Legal Services.
